Course Theory

Art in the late 18th century and early 19th (Goya, Fusli, Blake). – 19th century: Classicism, Romanticism, Realism, idealistic currents (Nazarene, Pre-Raphaelite, Eclectic, Academic), French Landscape (Barbizon, Honfleur) impressionism and Metempresionistika currents. Modern Art. – 20th century: Fauvism, Expressionism, Cubism, Orphism, Italian Futurism, Russian Avant-garde, abstract art, Bauhaus, Dada, Metaphysical Painting, Surrealism, realism of the thirties. – Independent artists: Picasso, Klee, Chagall, Modigliani, Utrillo. – War Currents: Abstract Expressionism (U.S. – Europe) Abstract impressionism (Europe). – Optikokinitiki art. Documents movements: Pop Art (UK, USA). New representational. The object as an aesthetic value. Neorealism. – The Greek Art of the 20th century.

The Scope of the Course and Objectives

The Scope of the Course

Teaching the History of Art should be aimed at fostering awareness and sense of responsibility for students. It is necessary, therefore, the study and understanding of the artwork for their awareness.

Course objectives

The conservation of art requires and requires knowledge of art history. Knowing the “biography” of the artwork is first guarantee for a better approach – approach, on the other hand, allows solving complex problems relating to maintenance. The material is irrelevant if detached from their ideas and messages contained within it. The artwork is what determines the maintenance and not vice versa.
