Athina Georgia Alexopoulou

Athena Georgia Alexopoulou, Diploma and PhD of School of Chemical Engineers of the National Technical University of Athens, Full Professor at the Department of Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art since 1999, Member of the Board of the Training and Lifelong Learning Center, University of West Attica, Director of the Research Laboratory “ARTICON: Conservation-Promotion of Visual Art, Book and Archival Material” and Scientific Advisor – National Council for Research, Technology and Innovation. Her scientific activity covers the field of diagnostic methods and chemical microanalysis of artworks and archaeological objects. Part of the educational material she teaches is freely offered in the open academic courses. Her research work includes the implementation as a Project Manager of competing national and European research programs and technical studies. Her writing work includes monographs, scientific books, chapters in collective volumes, a guide to the profession of conservator/restorer, educational manuals, and publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings. As Director of the ARTICON Laboratory, she developed a variety of activities related to the protection and promotion of cultural heritage.
