Course Tutors
The aims of the Internship course, is to connect students with the labor market and to abet them to become familiar with the working environment of the conservation filed. Students will have the opportunity to apply and develop their skills and knowledge acquired during their studies in real working conditions and to encounter conservation issues on cultural objects with specific features. The internship can take place in public organized bodies, services of the public sector, as well as in private laboratories/Conservation Studios with activity on research, study and conservation of cultural objects.
The host institution, both in Private or Public Sector, should provide well organized conservation laboratories/studios related to the scientific fields of the department. On behalf of the host institution, students’ supervision should be undertaken by a graduate Conservator of Antiquities and Works of Art, while in case of Research Institutions, supervision should be undertaken by a researcher with a relevant scientific background. On behalf of the Department, a supervisor professor is appointed with the obligation of supervision of each internship as well as grading student’s performance. The committee has the right to cancel the internship in case that the above criteria will not be followed.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Internship the student should be able:
• To collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment and to be able to undertake the tasks assigned to him/her
• To respond efficiently to the instructions and projects of the organized laboratory/workshop environment
• To understand the operating/working conditions of an active and organized conservation laboratory
• To make decisions and apply appropriate conservation methodologies.
As part of the internship the student must:
• Develop critical thinking, and at the same time, to follow the instructions of workplace supervisor
• Enrich his/her experience on important monuments and objects of cultural heritage
• Set the foundation of a collaborative partnership network with professionals in the field of conservation

Language of evaluation: Greek
The internship’s report consists of:
– Student’s Report.
– Host Institution Supervisor’s report.
– Report by the professor of the Department who is appointed for the supervision
Students’ evaluation (100%): from the professor of the Department who is appointed for the supervision
