Associate Professor
Dr. Dimitrios Makris (Computer scientist (Ph.D.), and Interior Architect (MSc, BSc), ), associate professor, Department of “Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art”, Faculty of “Applied Arts and Culture”, University of West Attica. Member of the Research Laboratory “Advanced Research Technologies for Investigation and Conservation – ARTICON” Faculty of Applied Arts and Culture.
His doctoral thesis focuses on the applications of artificial intelligence in the creation of three-dimensional scenes based on declarative descriptions. His research interests focus on the fields of three-dimensional documentation and promotion of cultural goods based on digitization, and the augmentation of space-referenced urban spatial narratives based on novels.
He teaches “Documentation and Digital Applications in Conservation”, “Special Issues of Digitization and Modeling” and co-teaches “Analogue and Digital Documentation Techniques”. At the UNIWA since 2000 has been teaching “Design-Aided Methodology”, since 2018 Spatial Narratives. Since 2017 he has been co-teaching “Digital 3D Imaging Techniques” in the Postgraduate Program of his home department, while since 2018 he has co-teaches “Architectural Design of Museum Space and Museography” in the Postgraduate Program of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and UNIWA. Also since 2010, he has taught various courses in three-dimensional graphics at the Postgraduate Programs of UNIWA. and the Athens School of Fine Arts.
He has published more than 40 articles in prestigious scientific journals and international and national conferences, with several international citations to his work. He has participated in one national research project. He supervises two doctoral theses, he is a member of the Three-Member Scientific Committee in two other doctoral theses. He is a certified evaluator General Secretariat for Research and Technology for the evaluation and validation of research proposals.
He holds a Ph.D. in Informatics from the University of Limoges, in France (2005 – École Doctorale Science–Technologie–Santé, Faculté des Sciences & Techniques), a Master’s of Science in Architecture, (Computing and Design) from the East London University, in the UK (1999 – Faculty of Design and the Built Environment – School of Architecture) and a Diploma of Interior Design from the Technological Educational Institute (T.E.I.) of Athens in Athens, Greece (1995).
