Σκοπός του μαθήματος είναι να αναδείξει το σύνθετο χαρακτήρα των σύγχρονων έργων τέχνης και την πολυεπίπεδη λειτουργία τους, καλλιεργώντας στους φοιτητές/τριες τον προβληματισμό σχετικά με τις απαιτήσεις και την αναγκαιότητα για τη διατήρησή τους. Η πολλαπλότητα των μορφών και των εκφράσεων της σύγχρονης τέχνης αποτελεί το καθρέπτη της σύγχρονης πραγματικότητας. Η σύγχρονη τέχνη αναφέρεται όχι μόνο στην οπτική θεώρηση του έργου αλλά στη συνολική βιωματική εμπειρία, η οποία περιλαμβάνει το χώρο και τη λειτουργία του έργου μέσα σε αυτόν, όπως και μέσα στο ευρύτερο κοινωνικό σύνολο. Στόχος του μαθήματος είναι να εξοικειωθούν οι φοιτητές με τη διαδικασία της σύγχρονης εικαστικής δημιουργίας, να αναλυθούν οι απαραίτητες κοινωνικοπολιτικές διαστάσεις της εποχής ώστε να γίνει εφικτή η κατανόηση των αναγκών που διέπουν τη σύγχρονη καλλιτεχνική έκφραση και παραγωγή, όπως και να αναζητηθούν οι διαφορετικές αφηγήσεις και ερμηνείες που αποκτούν τα σύγχρονα έργα τέχνης. Η ενότητα βασίζεται σε μια σειρά από θεωρητικές διαλέξεις, παρουσιάσεις περιπτωσιολογικών μελετών, επισκέψεις σε μουσεία, εκθέσεις ή εργαστήρια εικαστικών καλλιτεχνών. Όλα αυτά στοχεύουν στη δημιουργία σύνδεσης και διαλόγου με το έργο τέχνης κατά τη γέννηση και δημιουργία του, καθώς και στην ανάδειξη πτυχών που σχετίζονται με την κοινωνική του πρόσληψη και λειτουργία.
Μαθησιακά Αποτελέσματα
Μετά το τέλος του μαθήματος οι φοιτητές/τριες θα είναι σε θέση:
• Να γνωρίζουν τα διαφορετικά καλλιτεχνικά ρεύματα στη σύγχρονη τέχνη
• Να γνωρίζουν το εύρος των εκφραστικών μέσων και τεχνικών που απαιτούνται για τη δημιουργία έργων που αντικατοπτρίζουν το σήμερα
• Να γνωρίζουν την ιστορία της τέχνης που προηγήθηκε ώστε να μπορούν να κατανοήσουν την εξέλιξη της έως τις μέρες μας
• Να γνωρίζουν τις διάφορες μεθόδους που χρησιμοποιούν οι σύγχρονοι καλλιτέχνες για να εκφραστούν δημιουργικά με ενδιαφέρον στην κοινωνική λειτουργία της τέχνης
• Να έχουν γνώση της εξελισσόμενης νέας ψηφιακής τεχνολογίας στην παραγωγή έργων ψηφιακού πολιτισμού.

Αξιολόγηση φοιτητών (100%): Συγγραφή μίας ατομικής εργασίας σε θέμα που θα επιλεγεί από την αρχή του εξαμήνου.
Οι οδηγίες θα συζητηθούν στο πρώτο μάθημα και θα αναρτηθούν στο eclass.
